V5 Initiative is proud to partner with USAID & IDB in the BetterTogether Challenge for Venezuela

We’re facing an unprecedented displacement of people in the history of the Western Hemisphere, but we believe that working together is the best way forward for a brighter future across the region.

If you have an innovative solution to improve the lives of Venezuelans and host communities, submit it to the BetterTogether Challenge and make a positive impact in the lives thousands!

The Regional Crisis

Venezuela’s political, humanitarian, and economic crisis has led to severe shortages of food, electricity, medicine, water, and other basic needs. The crisis has driven nearly 4.5 million people to flee the country, the largest external displacement of people in the Western Hemisphere’s history. This outflow of Venezuelans has had a growing social and economic impact on neighboring countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, including effects on public services, labor markets, community relations, and infrastructure.

How the Challenge Works

The BetterTogether Challenge will:

  • Elevate Venezuelan voices and ingenuity to convey and answer needs inside Venezuela and across the region;
  • Connect Venezuelans, host communities, and the world’s collective genius to develop innovative solutions;
  • Expand networks across communities and countries to promote relationships and collaboration;
  • Fund, test, and scale solutions; and
  • Build a marketplace of tested, market-ready solutions.

Where We Work

Proposed solutions can be implemented in the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, and/or Venezuela. This list may change as the situation evolves.
